Passion is all that matters

Interestingly, late last night i had a little chat with a new fashion student who currently studied fashion designing at my ex-fashion design school. It was amazing to share my experiences and few things about being a fashion student with her. Despite all the things that happened to her for the last 2 months that put her down, i hope our little chat last night cud inspire her to be someone in the fashion industry with a mission. Good luck to darllz abdull.

Passion. Once you instill this in you, there is nothing that is impossible to do. Believing in your passion somehow brings the unexpected things in your life and you will find that miracles do exist!Passion knows no boundaries.

There are things in life that happens on coincidence but some are fated. But people, in fashion, there is no coincidence and you make your own fate in fashion. You create, you design, you imagine, you construct, you experiment...and it's all about you! You decide!

But most of all..stay Amazing people..

BATIK EVENING WEAR

Back in early 2009, when i was still a fashion design student, i was honored to had the opportunity to work with one of the batik producer in Sabah, Olumis Borneo Batik House to design their fashion show batik evening dresses..

what amazed me most about Olumis Batik is how the owner herself studied for 7 years on Sabah ethnic motives and transfered in to batik. This has become a signature to Sabah very own batik. And each motives brings different stories. You are wearing a history people...

Here are the dresses that i design and sew myself. And its on runway!

Bella's birthday. Happy Birthday darling..

I got a reminder text from Bella, my beautiful cousin "Tomorrow is my birthday. Don't forget k. Bella". Cute. And i suddenly remembered the write up about her birthday dress in 2009 but was never posted in my blog. :) But decided to do so now..

January, 2009

It was 3 days to go to get the material and actually sewing for my cousin’s birthday outfit. Bella who will turn 8 soon wanted a Barbie outfit and to be specific, Princess of Island Barbie outfit. Everyone was searching high and low for her dream dress and my mum finally said, by hook or by crook you have to do it. Yeah..and its me! OMG! How am I going to do it? And where to get the materials?? I have only 3 days to her birthday party. But thanks to jules coz she was willingly to accompany me to find materials for the dress. Off we go and was skipping our sewing classes. And, I have only the Barbie picture as a guidance. We went from shop to shop along masjid india and by the end of the day, we were relieved tha we got what I really need for the dress.

The next day, I started the pattern and start sewing. But it was so funny that i wrongly joined the corset!!! And I have less than 10 hours to do it! Me and jules were at class, she was also tied up with her aunt’s dress that she needs to finish that very day. We and our last minutes.. so no talking for the whole day and we finally did it!!! oh oh...the corset for her was fixed with a mini bra cup!

So here’s the result..

Everything was done from scratch. including the necklace and the peacock tail.

Bridesmaid fabric hunting

If you are looking for cheap fabrics and just wanna go for a small fabric hunting i have just the right place to go as an alternative.

I just followed my parents to Tangkak, visiting my grandmother. Me and my mum went to the town to have a look at the fabric shops here and there are more than 10 fabric shops for such a small town. You cant believe that 4 metres of kurung fabric only cost you RM10! Its cheap and you could still bargain according to your budget.

We entered to almost the fabric shops here. What a relieved! I found a nice lace fabric for my next design and guess what..it only cost me one third of the price in KL! Whoo hooo....

owh...and if you guys plan to come to Tangkak for fabric hunting, you could stay at Ophir hotel where we are at now. Its affordable, comfortable and clean. The bathroom too! lol (free promo for this hotel). They even have a wireless connection here! Tel: 06-9791661 or email at ophirhotel@gmail.com

Okay people, i have to work on my next project with the lace fabrics for my dresses! I am going to be the bridesmaid for my cousin this coming May. So if you want to have a look at my designs, do drop in next month. I should have finish sewing it. ;)

and my beloved fren, Sheirly (http://pinkcherry.blogspot.com) will soon upload pics of my latest evening wear designs for Olumis Borneo Batik Fashion Show 2009. I will upload my past designs too!

Keep in touch people!

The Butterfly.....

It is the logo of my fashion creations. I chose butterfly as it is one of the most beautiful animal. It evolves from an ugly catterpillar. That's how i see fashion is. Fashion evolves and fashion builds the confidence in you...

This is my paper bag design.
